Just a reading from the web for a early cell phone model, it is used as a reference when SMS controller is equipped with some cell model of which is using 4 contacts of battery.
There are illuatrated as B+, BSI, T, B-
B+, a terminal of postive of the battery
BSI, a terminal of Battery Sense Input (5K6 Ohm to B- = Ni-MH, 74K5 Ohm to B- = Li-ion)
T, a terminal of Battery Temperature indication (50K Ohm to ground)
B-, a terminal of Negative of the battery
